Biography

Sara Shoar earned her Master of Public Health in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on psychedelic science, women’s reproductive health, mental health, and mindfulness. As a Consultant for the Psychedelics Portfolio at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she has supported strategic coordination and data-driven initiatives related to the expanding use and evolving policy landscape of psychedelics.

During her MPH, Sara was Principal Investigator for a study on psychedelic experiences and attitudes among young adults through USC’s Institute for Addiction Science. She has also contributed to clinical research at the USC Roski Eye Institute and the Neurology Centre of Toronto. Sara is passionate about catalyzing innovation in behavioral health and seeks to integrate research, policy, and practice to advance equitable health outcomes. Outside of research, she enjoys practicing and teaching yoga, traveling, reading, and attending music festivals.
