Biography

Sara Shoar earned her Master of Public Health in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Her research explores psychedelic science, women’s reproductive health, and mindfulness. As a Consultant for the Psychedelics Portfolio at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she has supported strategic coordination and data-driven initiatives related to the expanding use and evolving policy landscape of psychedelics.

During her MPH, Sara served as Principal Investigator for a study on psychedelic experiences and attitudes among young adults through USC’s Institute for Addiction Science. She has also contributed to clinical research at the USC Roski Eye Institute and the Neurology Centre of Toronto. Sara is passionate about catalyzing innovation in behavioral health and integrating research, policy, and practice to improve population health. Outside of research, she enjoys teaching yoga, traveling, reading, and attending music festivals.
